Love is…

Love is…
I was looking to buy a Valentines card for my hubby this week.  Amongst all the mushy verses and cute pictures, I got to thinking…
‘What does Love actually look like?’How would you best describe what ‘Love’ is to you?

I cast my mind to a challenging yet hopeful passage which I think really sums up Real Love…

‘Love is patient, love is kind.

It does not envy, it does not boast,
it is not proud. It does not dishonor others,
it is not self-seeking,
it is not easily angered,
it keeps no record of wrongs.
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
Love Never Fails (1 Corinthians 13)

After reading this passage, I replaced the words ‘Love’ and ‘It’ with my own name….  Now here’s a challenge!   Am I always patient? kind? selfless? calm? The truth is…. not always!  I fall short!  I’m sure you will feel the same way, in that we all fall short of being perfect and selfless. We would all fall short of the kind of Love that the passage describes.

Now replace the words ‘Love’ and ‘it’ with ‘God’.
How does this make you feel?
I believe that perfect Love can only be found in God.  To experience the Love of God is like nothing else I have experienced before. The love of God is amazing! The Love of God never fails me! He is the one who created me, the one who calls me ‘daughter’.  I know that I can trust in His perfect love and grace for me!
You may or may not know the story of Jesus.  That God sent His most precious son, perfect and blameless into the world 2000 years ago, who lived a life without fault, did many miracles amongst people, had dinner with people you wouldn’t expect (including prostitutes and thieves), healed people who were unwell, and showed people how to live and get along with one another.  People who claimed to be perfect and religious didn’t always get on too well with Jesus.  Why do you think this might be?

I believe that Jesus lived a life of perfect love.  He was put to death on a cross and paid the price for the failings of humankind, so that whoever will believe in Him shall have a right standing relationship with God now, and be with Him for all eternity, in heaven forever.

Maybe you don’t believe in God, or maybe you don’t believe this describes God for you.  You might not fully agree with me or understand the things I’ve written in this post.  If this is you, my prayer is that you will come to know the Love of God in your life today and come to an understanding of who Jesus is and how His amazing Love can change your life.  If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to send me an email to… amzabellafaith@gmail.com

Here’s praying you have a Valentines day filled with Love 🙂
